Versioned method

A direction you can read — and audit

The AI Job Direction dial summarises reviewed job gains and losses. It uses signed whole-job counts, not a probability, personal prediction or opaque decimal score.

Synthetic calculation example

Created or expanded jobs minus displaced jobs

+8,400opportunity jobs4,880displaced jobs=+3,520net direction

The dial position is the net movement divided by the fixed display range. The full component values remain visible so the direction never replaces the evidence.

  1. 01
    Register sources

Document ownership, licence, coverage and limitations.

  2. 02
    Classify movement

Separate job displacement from creation or expansion without predicting individual outcomes.

  3. 03
    Normalise indicators

Use a versioned transformation and document missing data, weights and uncertainty.

  4. 04
    Calculate whole jobs

Preserve signed whole-job counts and derive the net direction from one fixed range.

  5. 05
    AI review and controlled release

Use AI-assisted source checks plus automated validation before release. AI can still overlook context or return incorrect results.

Interpretation

What the dial does — and does not say

Direction, not destiny

It communicates a broad balance of evidence and never forecasts a person’s job.

Counts before colour

Labels and signed values carry the meaning, so colour is never the only signal.

Versioned uncertainty

Every published reading will reference a methodology version and visible limitations.
